When it comes to justice, it’s about fairness.
Speaking for those who can’t.
And doing the right thing.

Working by day in banking and attending law school at night, Matt was an eyewitness on September 11 to the horrors of that fateful morning as planes struck the World Trade towers.. And in an instant, Matt knew his life’s work would focus on seeking justice and serving others.
During his time as a councilman, Matt worked to help create jobs, keep a tight rein on our city’s finances, and ensure that ours is a city where everyone will feel safe and secure.
As our chief prosecutor, Matt has reduced a backlog of almost 7,000 cases filed during the COVID years when courts were closed.
Today, Matt is working to keep Chesapeake the safest city by recruiting and retaining the highest caliber prosecutors who lead with integrity. Matt also believes justice must be colorblind: whether you’re a victim or the one on trial, red and blue have no place in a courtroom.
Guided by faith and a commitment to serve without fear or favor, Matt Hamel is the right choice for Chesapeake’s Commonwealth’s Attorney. November 4, let’s keep him on the job.
